Health in Honduras
Some of the biggest problems of the healthcare system already in place in Opatoro is that there is one doctor, a woman, who travels throughout all of the villages over the course of a month. This means that she is only in a village for one to three days before moving on.
Another problem is the people who healthcare is avaliable to. Since there is not a lot of time with the doctor, healthcare is only avaliable to children under age 14 and pregnant women.
These are just a few reasons why organizations like CHP-H are extremely essential to these villages. CHP-H offers free consultations in their Clinic, dentist services, and home visits to anyone in need in Opatoro. Some travel hours by foot to get to the Clinic.
